Cherry Hills Country Club

Designed by renowned architect William Flynn, the course was selected by the United States Golf Association to host the 1938 U.S. Open, marking the first time the tournament was held west of the Mississippi River. The course has established itself as a premier championship venue, hosting 14 different national championships throughout its history, including the U.S. Amateur in 2023. Panoramic views across the Hertfordshire countryside are a feature of the back nine in particular. The course carries a slope of 121 from the yellow tees, indicating a fair but demanding test. One notable piece of club history is that Ryder Cup player Ian Poulter was a junior member and assistant professional at Chesfield Downs in his early career, winning the club championship in 1993.
