Spook Rock Golf Course is a 150-acre, par 72 course located at 233 Spook Rock Road in the Village of Montebello in the Town of Ramapo, New York. The course's name derives from Native American lore associated with Spook Rock Road; it was designed and constructed by Frank Duane, with the front nine opening in 1969 and the full eighteen holes completed in 1970. The course was later redesigned with major changes by Stephen Kaye.
The course features water hazards on 7 of its holes, numerous sand bunkers both in the fairways and surrounding the greens, and tightly tree-lined fairways. Spook Rock has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments including PGA qualifying rounds, several Metropolitan Golf Association Men's and Women's Public Links Championships, and the Rockland County Amateur. The course recently underwent a total irrigation system renovation, replacing a single-line design with a state-of-the-art three-line system that delivers water under controlled circumstances to every part of the course layout.
