Multi-day individual strokeplay qualifying competition followed by matchplay, played on the Championship Course (green tees) at Royal Dornoch. Three sections: scratch, low handicap, and high handicap. A consolation competition is held on the Struie Course. Open to men holding a WHS handicap index of 18.0 or less. This is a balloted competition; the ballot date is 26th February. Entrants are advised not to book travel or accommodation until receiving email confirmation of their place. Royal Dornoch Championship Course

Royal Dornoch Championship Course is one of the world's finest links courses, located on the north shore of the Dornoch Firth in the Scottish Highlands. Extended from nine to 18 holes by Old Tom Morris in 1886, the course stretches along a dramatic, windswept beach with stunning views across the Firth and gorse-clad hillsides. The Championship Course presents a quintessential links challenge set across natural, tiered linksland. Its challenging nature is amplified by the exposed coastal setting and demanding conditions characteristic of championship links courses. The course has maintained its prominence on world top-10 lists, with recent modifications made to the 7th and 8th holes to ensure future relevance. The course's prestige is underscored by its history—golf has been played here since 1616, and the club was formally established in 1877. Notable golf legends including Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw, and Jack Nicklaus have played Royal Dornoch. Donald Ross, a native of Dornoch, began his legendary design career as greenkeeper and professional at the club. The dramatic location and natural amphitheatre of linksland create an iconic and formidable golfing experience.
