Veterans Memorial Golf Club is a nine-hole par 36 course located at 2000 North Shore Drive in Clear Lake, Iowa, situated lakeside on 61 acres of land. The course measures 3049 yards from the championship tees, 2936 yards from the regular tees, and 2767 yards from the ladies tees. The course features tight fairways and small greens, with 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's, and 3 par 5's. Though not long in length, the course will test any golfer's skills. The course came into existence in 1922 and was purchased by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce in 1945, who dedicated it to Clear Lake's war veterans and named it All Veterans Golf Club. In the early 1950s, highway 18 construction eliminated two original holes, and the course subsequently purchased an apple orchard to the west, with holes 3 and 4 now situated on that former orchard land. The city of Clear Lake acquired the course in spring 2011 and renamed it Veterans Memorial Golf Club. In 2015, the Iowa Golf Association Board of Directors named Veterans Memorial Golf Club the 2014 9-Hole Course of the Year. Tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and several elevation changes provide golfers of all abilities a wonderful golfing experience.
