Algonkian Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course located in Sterling, Virginia along the Potomac River. Originally designed in 1962 by Ed Ault, the course measures almost 7,000 yards and is designated as a par-72 layout. The course features Bermuda grass fairways with large greens and presents a mix of challenge levels suitable for both serious golfers and occasional players.
The course layout includes a tree-lined front nine with water hazards on three holes and a rolling back nine with an in-play stream on four holes. Notable signature holes include hole 6, a 526-yard par-5 dogleg left, and hole 16, a par-3 that plays up to 240 yards with a wide green. The course is operated by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NOVA Parks), which acquired the facility in 1975 from Potomac Electric Power Company. The course is situated within the 838-acre Algonkian Regional Park, which offers additional recreational amenities.
