The course was originally designed by Ault Clark and renovated under the supervision of Joel Weiman, featuring a nearly 7,000-yard, par-71 layout. Five teeing areas provide a layout that challenges skilled players while remaining accessible to golfers of all levels. Located on 380 picturesque acres in the lush Potomac Valley of Southwest Montgomery County, the course features no homes alongside its fairways. The course offers generous landing areas and large rolling greens with two scenic lakes. The course has a rating of 72.3 and a slope rating of 123.

The course maintains world-class practice facilities, including a 2-acre short game practice area and a range with both grass and artificial teeing areas. The Crossvines was built to promote agricultural tourism, celebrate winemaking and host celebratory events in western Montgomery County. The Farmhouse Bistro uses locally-sourced ingredients for its lunch and dinner menus.
