The River Course at the Alisal is an 18-hole, Par 72 championship course stretching 6,830 yards in Solvang, California. Designed as a challenging yet accessible layout, the course strategically incorporates various hazards that reward accuracy and length without severely penalizing recreational players. The terrain features elevated tee boxes providing sweeping vistas of fairways and the Santa Ynez Mountains beyond.

The course is defined by its water features, particularly Alamo Pintado Creek which runs across the width of the property. The front nine concludes with a memorable 172-yard Par 3 playing downhill across the creek. The back nine opens with the No. 2 handicap hole, a 430-yard Par 4 navigating through tree-lined corridors with strategic bunkering. Notable signature holes include the 17th, a 123-yard Par 3 surrounded by water and sand, and the challenging 15th playing uphill across the creek.

The fairways appear wide but require precision to avoid sidehill lies created by course mounding. Large greens with moderate undulations provide interest without excessive difficulty. The final four holes traverse a plateau below the clubhouse, offering panoramic mountain views as rounds conclude.
