West Sayville Golf Course is a par 72 municipal course, designed by William F. Mitchell, ASGCA, the 18 hole course opened in 1968. The course features 6,715 yards of golf from the longest tees with a course rating of 72.1 and a slope rating of 127. The course is laid out over a former estate just steps away from Great South Bay. West Sayville is home to the Long Island Maritime Museum, and the original Meadow Edge estate house still stands on site. Golfers at West Sayville will often face interior ponds and creeks as they make their way around this flat, mostly forgiving course. The par-3 eighth plays over a water hazard, and at hole #11, a pond serves as a diagonal hazard off the tee. Two lakes and a marsh form water hazards with narrow and challenging fairways, while the long, winding course has some elevated greens and moderate sand bunkers. The course contains a lighted driving range, putting green, pro shop, and a full service restaurant.
