Philadelphia Country Club

Philadelphia Country Club is a private country club located in the Gladwyne suburb of Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The club proudly offers 27 holes of Championship Golf. The Spring Mill course was built in 1927, designed by the legendary architect William S. Flynn. The Centennial course is a 9-hole, 3312 yard venue with a par of 35. The Spring Mill course is a par 71 with approximately 7,000 yards from the championship tees with a slope rating of 74.4/135. The design features standout holes like the uphill, double-dogleg second, the sweeping downhill fourth and the par-3 seventh nestled in a cove. The routing gives golfers an ever-changing challenge as it winds through the hills and trees of suburban Philadelphia, with a series of long par 4s making up much of the challenge. Recent renovation work in 2023 and 2024 by Jim Nagle expanded fairways and greens, upscaled the bunkering to better match Flynn's original hazards and opened up sight lines. The Spring Mill course earned a permanent place in golf history when it hosted the U.S. Open in 1939. Byron Nelson captured the Championship after two playoff rounds against Denny Shute and Craig Wood. The club also hosted the 1899 U.S. Women's Championship and the 2003 U.S. Women's Amateur and co-hosted the 2005 Men's Amateur. Philadelphia Country Club serves as a co-host of the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship.
