Phuket Country Club is a 27-hole facility located in the Kathu District of Phuket, Thailand, established in 1989 on a reclaimed tin mine. The course is divided into two distinct layouts: the Old Course and the Country Club Course. The Old Course is an 18-hole, par-72 resort layout that spans over 10,000 yards when combined with the nine-hole course. It is set in a valley with a landscape that transitions through three distinct environments: undulating hills, level low-lying areas, and landscaped forest. The Country Club Course is a 9-hole, par-36 championship layout designed for low-handicap golfers, featuring water hazards on 90% of the holes. The Old Course is characterized by its forgiving nature for high handicappers, where wayward shots are not severely penalized. The layout features six holes on undulating hills, six on level ground, and six through forested areas. A signature challenge is the 10th hole, a 557-yard par-5 dogleg right that requires a 240-yard carry over water. The course also includes an island green on the 17th hole and strategically placed pot bunkers on the 3rd, 4th, 9th, and 11th holes. The Country Club Course presents a sterner test, with water hazards and out-of-bounds areas penalizing wayward shots, though multiple tee boxes are available to adjust the difficulty. Phuket Country Club has a significant history in Thai golf, hosting numerous local and international championships. It is known as a home for senior golf tournaments, including the SOGO-GAINT Senior PGA Championship and the Boonchu Ruangkit Senior Golf Championship. The club has also hosted the HM King Rama 9 Cup in 2006 and 2008, the HRH Princess Srindhorn Maha Chakri Cup, and the Phuket Thailand Ladies Masters in 2005. The venue continues to host various amateur and senior events, maintaining its reputation as a premier destination for golf competitions in the region.
