Picatinny Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course located at 121 Buffington Road on Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey. The course features 6,816 yards of golf from the longest tees and plays to a par of 72, with a course rating of 72.8 and slope rating of 125. Originally established in 1921 and formally opened in 1930, the course was designed by military personnel and has evolved significantly over its century of operation. The final nine holes were added by 1957, with construction funded largely through member donations. The course is characterized by well-maintained fairways and greens, offering challenging yet accessible play for golfers of all skill levels.
A distinctive feature of the course is Green Pond Brook, which crosses several holes as a water hazard, increasing the difficulty of play. This element was intentionally designed during the course's expansion in the mid-20th century. The course underwent significant layout modifications in 1963-1965 with the relocation of the 14th hole to accommodate construction of Arsenal buildings, resulting in the current modern layout with engineering and research offices overlooking portions of the course.
Picatinny Golf Club serves the military community and is open to active, retired and honorably discharged military, DOD civilians, DOD contractors, and the general public. The facility includes amenities such as a pro shop, driving range with six practice tees, dining options including the Gunpowder Grill halfway house and the 19th Hole pub, as well as The Club at Picatinny event venue on the 18th hole.
