The course was designed by George Livingstone, a Belle Meade golf pro, and originally opened with just 6 holes before expanding to a full 18-hole layout in 1941. The club is situated on land that was once the residence of the French Huguenot Bondurant family, with the original house replaced by a replica in the 1940s. Four sets of tees are available with generally elevated tee boxes, and fairways are wide and open with mounded sides designed to bounce balls toward the middle.
