Old Hickory Country Club was founded in 1926 by the DuPont Company as a recreational facility for its employees in Old Hickory, Tennessee. The course was designed by George Livingstone, a Belle Meade golf pro, and originally opened with just 6 holes before expanding to a full 18-hole layout in 1941. The club is situated on land that was once the residence of the French Huguenot Bondurant family, with the original house replaced by a replica in the 1940s.
Livingstone's original design remains evident throughout the course today. Early greens were constructed using sand with a cottonseed oil coating to create putting surfaces. The club has hosted notable golfers and professionals, including Harold Eller, who served as the head golf pro from 1945 to 1979. The club continues this legacy by hosting an annual Pro-Am tournament in Eller's memory. The course has established itself as a significant recreational and competitive venue within the local community.
