The original course was built and designed by Slim Deathridge in 1946, who laid out the original routing and supervised construction. The golf course was re-built in 1997 with all greens, bunkers, and tees redone. The course winds its way through dense Florida oak and pine with more water in play and undulated greens that add to the overall challenge. The North Course is generally recognized as the toughest test of the two courses at the facility. The North Course is the annual host of the Daytona Beach Open, an event that counts PGA Tour player Nick Lindheim among its past champions. Notable features include the 5th hole, a 290-yard par 4 offering risk-reward decisions for long hitters, and the 17th, a 444-yard par 5 with an island green.

Most holes are framed by trees with mostly up-and-back positioning on relatively flat land, though subtle rumbles provide strategic value and demanding shotmaking into Ross greens that average 5,150 square feet. At just over 7,000 yards from the Gold Tees, the North Course is the longer of the two courses and features narrow, tree-lined fairways where club selection is an important part of the round. The North Course hosted the PGA Tour's Rocket Mortgage Classic from 2019 through 2022. Following the 2025 Rocket Classic, the club embarked on a major renovation led by Tyler Rae's team for $16 million to restore strategic elements of Ross' original design, with results to be seen when the North course reopens ahead of the 2026 Rocket Classic.

Designed by Tom Fazio, the course was crafted to defy convention, exposing 30 acres of native sandscapes and establishing a strong sense of place. Located in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the course winds through 1,265 pristine acres of pine forest and rolling sandhills. The course features six holes with significantly uphill drives, providing golfers with a clear appreciation of the rolling topography. From the championship tees, the course has a rating of 74.7, nearly matching Pine Valley's 75.2. Big, deep bunkers around greens combined with forced carries into greens provide significant challenge. Golfers face doglegs right and left, an ever-present lake guarding holes 15 and 17, and amazing elevation changes. The signature hole is the 15th, a 432-yard par-4 where the tee shot plays over a corner of the lake with water continuing down the right side. The North Course was nominated as the best new private course in the country by Golf Digest when it opened. The course was originally slated to host the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. Originally opened in 2005 as the second course at Forest Creek Golf Club, the North Course is a rugged layout with a pine barrens feel, flowing through sprawling sandy areas native to the Sandhills.

The North Course is ranked among the top 50 golf courses in the United States and was renovated in preparation for the 2003 U.S. Open, but remains true to Willie Park's vision with testing bunkers and treacherous greens. The land has only 42 feet of elevation change, with greens averaging 5,240 square feet in size and well protected by an average of three greenside hazards, while the fairway acreage totals 21 acres. The course has rolling parkland with a handful of steep putting surfaces and a standout hole in the big par-4 14th, with its second shot over a creek to an elevated green. The North Course hosted the 1928 U.S. Open (won by Johnny Farrell), the 1997 U.S. Senior Open (won by Graham Marsh), the 2003 U.S. Open (won by Jim Furyk), and the 1925 and 1961 PGA Championships. The course also hosted the U.S. Senior Open (1997), the U.S. Amateur (2015), and the 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. In 2017, Olympia Fields North was the site of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and the course hosted the 2020 and 2023 BMW Championship.
