The North Course at Detroit Golf Club is an 18-hole layout that features 6,837 yards and par 72, designed by Donald J. Ross and opened in 1899. The course is located on the north side of Detroit near Palmer Park and the University of Detroit Mercy. Most holes are framed by trees with mostly up-and-back positioning on relatively flat land, though subtle rumbles provide strategic value and demanding shotmaking into Ross greens that average 5,150 square feet. At just over 7,000 yards from the Gold Tees, the North Course is the longer of the two courses and features narrow, tree-lined fairways where club selection is an important part of the round. The North Course hosted the PGA Tour's Rocket Mortgage Classic from 2019 through 2022. Following the 2025 Rocket Classic, the club embarked on a major renovation led by Tyler Rae's team for $16 million to restore strategic elements of Ross' original design, with results to be seen when the North course reopens ahead of the 2026 Rocket Classic.
