The North Course is an 18-hole championship layout with a par of 72 and total yardage of 7,139 yards. Designed by Tom Fazio, the course was crafted to defy convention, exposing 30 acres of native sandscapes and establishing a strong sense of place. Located in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the course winds through 1,265 pristine acres of pine forest and rolling sandhills. The course features six holes with significantly uphill drives, providing golfers with a clear appreciation of the rolling topography.
From the championship tees, the course has a rating of 74.7, nearly matching Pine Valley's 75.2. Big, deep bunkers around greens combined with forced carries into greens provide significant challenge. Golfers face doglegs right and left, an ever-present lake guarding holes 15 and 17, and amazing elevation changes. The signature hole is the 15th, a 432-yard par-4 where the tee shot plays over a corner of the lake with water continuing down the right side.
The North Course was nominated as the best new private course in the country by Golf Digest when it opened. The course was originally slated to host the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. Originally opened in 2005 as the second course at Forest Creek Golf Club, the North Course is a rugged layout with a pine barrens feel, flowing through sprawling sandy areas native to the Sandhills.
