The South Course at Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, measures 7,067 yards and was designed by Tom Fazio, opening in 1996. The course was inspired by Augusta National's rolling, parkland style layout and features wide fairways, gentle slopes, and scenic water views. Upon opening, Golf Digest selected it as the third-best new residential course in the country.
The course weaves through pleasantly rolling terrain with an unforced, natural appearance, featuring broad swaths of pine trees characteristic of the Carolina Sandhills region. The South Course provides water features near the clubhouse that come into play on the downhill finishing holes. The design showcases one of the finest routings in the Pinehurst area, accomplished with minimal earth movement while maintaining the landscape's natural beauty.
The South Course has earned recognition from area golf professionals, with Pinehurst Magazine ranking it as the second-best golf experience in the Pinehurst area, second only to the legendary Pinehurst No. 2.
