Awarii Dunes Golf Course

NE

Awarii Dunes Golf Course is an 18-hole championship links-style course designed by Jim Engh, inspired by the renowned golf links of Ireland. The course stretches approximately 7,000 yards across natural sand hills, which form the distinctive landscape characteristic of links golf. Rather than extensive earthmoving, the design philosophy emphasized working with the existing terrain—fewer than 30,000 yards of dirt were moved during construction. The layout winds through, around, and over the dunes, creating a challenging and visually dramatic routing that showcases the natural topography. The course's setting on sand hills provides the dramatic elevation changes and open vistas typical of links courses, with minimal landscaping intervention. Engh has stated this represents one of his signature works, successfully translating his Irish links golf inspiration to a distinctive American setting. The natural dune environment creates inherent difficulty through undulating greens, exposed lies, and wind exposure typical of authentic links golf design.
