The Pines Course at the Country Club of Whispering Pines was designed by Ellis Maples and features 7,094 yards with a par of 72, a rating of 74.0 and slope of 133. The course showcases rolling fairways lined with majestic pine trees, challenging players with strategic bunkering and undulating greens. Located in the Sandhills region of North Carolina just 8 miles north of Pinehurst Village, the course is one of two championship courses at the club.
The Pines Course, formerly known as the East course, is a true "inland links" course. The design uses open, hardpan rough sparsely covered with native pine straw and "love grass" to create elements that appealed to Donald Ross. The combination of the course's length, generous fairways, and subtle undulations provide a unique golf test, with newly renovated Champion Bermuda greens installed in 2016. From the back tees that play 7,094 yards to the 5,012-yard Senior Ladies tees, the course requires golfers to hit every club in their bag.
