Shimokita Three Hundred Golf Club ☆ Follow

Shimokita Three Hundred Golf Club is an 18-hole course located at the base of the Shimokita Peninsula in Rokkasho Village, Aomori Prefecture. It holds the distinction of being the northernmost golf course on the main island of Japan. The club's name reflects its founding philosophy of limiting membership to approximately 300 individuals. The course was originally established as a nine-hole layout in May 1996 by Tsukuda Construction, a civil engineering firm based in the village of Obuchi. Initially managed by Rokkasho Village Tourism Co., the operation was transferred to the current corporate entity in 2005. The facility temporarily closed to expand the layout, reopening with the full 18-hole configuration in September 2007. The setting is characterized by open terrain and proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The surrounding area is notable for the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant and other nuclear fuel cycle facilities, which are situated within a large industrial zone nearby. The landscape also includes the Obuchi Lake Town residential area, featuring Nordic-style architecture near Obuchi Pond. The course has hosted various local events, including the Aomori Prefecture Junior Golf Championship in 2009 and an open competition in 2018. It also facilitated a children's golf experience event in 2021 organized by the Yaei Golf Garden Friends Association, aimed at encouraging youth participation in the sport.
