The Gosser Golf Course, located at Misawa Air Base in Japan, is an 18-hole public facility that presents a challenging layout for golfers in the region. The course features a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, with yardages varying by tee box. The white tees provide the primary reference for distance, while blue and red tees offer alternative lengths for different skill levels. The driving range is open 24 hours a day from April through November, with indoor hitting bays available during the winter months when weather permits. The front nine begins with a demanding opening hole, a 369-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive to avoid trees and a fairway bunker on the left, with out of bounds lining the right side. The second shot plays uphill, adding to the difficulty. Hole 2 is a 135-yard par 3 with a fast green that slopes from right to left and back to front, requiring precise placement. The third hole, a 520-yard par 5, demands a fairway drive to avoid dense rough and features a slightly elevated green protected by green-sided bunkers. The fourth hole offers a chance to score, being the shortest par 5 at 426 yards. Hole 5 is a 162-yard par 3 that plays uphill to a hidden putting surface, guarded by a large bunker on the left and a hazard over the green. The sixth hole is a 365-yard par 4 with a flat green, except for the front left, and a bunker protecting the front. The seventh hole, a 151-yard par 3, features a green that slopes from right to left and back to front, with three bunkers waiting for wayward tee shots. The eighth hole is a 501-yard par 5 that offers a risk-reward scenario from an elevated tee, allowing long hitters to drive over a bunker on the right for an approach of less than 200 yards. The ninth hole is the longest on the course at 574 yards, a par 5 that requires a good drive and second shot to position for a mid to long iron approach. The back nine starts with the signature tenth hole, a 159-yard par 3 that plays downhill and shorter than published yardage. Tee shots to the left may kick hard right onto the putting surface, and putts across the green tend to break toward the back. The eleventh hole is a 350-yard par 4 with an elevated tee and a bowl-shaped fairway, leading to an elevated green that breaks sharply left. The twelfth hole is a 265-yard par 4, a dog-leg right that requires an exact tee shot to avoid hazards and trees. The thirteenth hole is a 513-yard dog-leg left par 5, where a good tee shot and modest second shot leave a mid to short iron approach. The fourteenth hole is a 493-yard par 5 that can be reached with a short iron approach with a decent drive and modest second shot, avoiding a bunker on the right. The green is protected by two bunkers and has a plateau in the left back portion. The fifteenth hole is a 189-yard par 3 that requires a precise tee shot, with two bunkers adding to the difficulty. The course continues with holes 16 through 18, completing the 18-hole layout. The facility also offers a golf simulator, club rentals, and instruction, with green fees varying by eligibility status.
