Shangri La Golf Club

OK 2 upcoming events

Shangri-La Golf Club features 27 championship holes with lakefront views on Grand Lake in Oklahoma. Located on Monkey Island and hugging the shoreline of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, the course delivers a full-scale resort golf experience with three pristine nines. The three courses—Legends, Heritage, and Champions—all play to par 36, with Champions designed by Randy Heckenkemper and Heritage and Legends redesigned by Tom Clark. The redesign added fluid movement to fairways, 79 distinctive white-sand bunkers, brilliant water features, and demanding varied putting surfaces. Legends Nine is most famous for its ninth hole—known as the "Mickey Mantle Hole" after the New York Yankees legend who hosted his Mickey Mantle Golf Classic charity tournament at Shangri-La from 1991 until his death in 1995. This challenging par-5 presents a choice of two greens separated by a dramatic and spectacular waterfall, with players either taking the safer straight fairway to the left or attacking the peninsula green over water to the right. The golf course is highlighted by diverse greens complexes featuring rolling greens, distinctive white sand bunkers, and a classic tree-lined layout with magnificent lake views visible from all points, with five sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

The layout presents a mix of challenges suitable for both casual and experienced golfers. Notable holes include "Sapphire Mine" (Hole 10), which doglegs around the original mine, "Elephant Trail" (Hole 11), the longest par-5, and "The Tempest" (Hole 17), a difficult par-4 played alongside the ocean. The course incorporates natural elements including lakes, wildlife, and elevation changes. Designed with eco-friendly principles, it uses salt-tolerant Paspalum grass and integrates the restored landscape with revitalized vegetation and reintroduced birdlife. Shannopin Country Club

PA

Shannopin Country Club is an 18-hole golf course spanning 6,361 yards with a par of 71, a course rating of 71, and a slope rating of 128. The course was designed by legendary course architect Emil Loeffler, a son of Swiss immigrants who was also a professional golfer, World War I veteran, and prominent golf course superintendent. Located in Ben Avon Heights, about 10 miles north of Pittsburgh, the club sits in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania and features a breathtaking view of the Pittsburgh skyline alongside an 18-hole championship golf course. The club was founded shortly after World War I by three friends who wanted to establish a new country club, with the Jackman Farm and neighboring land purchased in 1919 to begin construction, and the club opening its doors in 1920, named after Chief Shannopin of the Lenape tribe who once settled in the area. Loeffler's design for Shannopin's course has remained virtually unchanged since 1920. Over its nearly century of operation, Shannopin Country Club has added tennis, swimming, and fitness facilities, and hosts a long list of events each year.
