Located in Takanezawa, Tochigi, Shinonome Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course set across a hilly landscape with a 20-meter elevation change. Originally established in Tokyo in 1952, the club relocated to its current site in 1984, with the course layout supervised by the Kajima Corporation. The terrain is characterized by gentle undulations and wide fairways, surrounded by a mix of oak, beech, cedar, and cypress trees. The course offers a total yardage of 6,976 yards from the back tees, with the front nine measuring 3,456 yards and the back nine 3,520 yards. The front nine features a mix of mid-length challenges, including a demanding par-4 fifth hole that serves as a driving distance test at 436 yards from the back tees. The sixth hole, a 209-yard par-3, is highlighted as a birdie opportunity, while the ninth hole provides another chance for long hitters to reach the green in two. The back nine introduces more significant length and strategic complexity, headlined by the 562-yard thirteenth hole and the 541-yard sixteenth, both recommended for players with powerful drives. The fourteenth hole, a 398-yard par-4, plays uphill and features a two-tiered green. Water hazards and out-of-bounds areas define the course's difficulty. The sixth hole is guarded by a front green pond, while the tenth and eleventh holes feature water hazards on the right side. The thirteenth hole is a long, S-shaped par-5 where the second and third shots must avoid the right-side out-of-bounds. The seventeenth hole, a 192-yard par-3, presents a downhill shot over a pond to a green protected by trees and water. The course utilizes bentgrass greens and offers a variety of tee boxes to accommodate different skill levels, with course ratings ranging from 64.5 to 73.5 depending on the tees selected.
