Sebonack Golf Course

NY

Sebonack Golf Club opened in 2006 and was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak. Situated on 300 acres in Southampton, NY, the course neighbors the historic National Golf Links of America and Shinnecock Hills Golf Course. The course is a par 72 that stretches to just over 7220 yards. Sebonack features holes with panoramic views of Long Island's Great Peconic Bay and Cold Spring Pond, along with rolling fairways, expansive bunkers, waste dunes, and undulating greens that present tricky swales and burrows. Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak, two designers with dramatically different styles, have used the natural contours and features of the land to create a unique look. The result is a natural-looking links style course that features wide, undulating playing areas, waste dunes, rough-hewn expansive bunkers and large greens with plenty of challenging movement. The greens are undulating in the extreme at times, and approach shots are almost always to a green with a false front which means you have to get all the way to the pin if you want to get onto the short stuff. Sebonack hosted the 2013 U.S. Women's Open, the first time the championship had been played on Long Island and the first in the greater New York City area since 1987. Inbee Park won her second U.S. Women's Open title four strokes ahead of runner-up I.K. Kim; it was Park's third consecutive major title in 2013.

Sedgefield Country Club

Ross created the course to fit in with the rolling landscape of the North Carolina countryside. The 18-hole layout plays to par-71 and measures approximately 7,130 yards from the championship tees, with five sets of tees available. The layout features small, sharply contoured greens and rolling fairways. A creek meanders through the property and comes into play on several holes. The course places a premium on putting the ball in the right place, meaning keeping it on the fairway and finding the right angle to the green. The small, undulating greens allow for interesting pin placements. A 2007 restoration project replaced original Bentgrass greens with Champion Bermuda Grass greens and restored the fairways with Tifway 419 Bermuda grass. Established in 1926, the club is primarily known for its golf course and the PGA Tour event it has held annually since 2008: the Wyndham Championship, formerly the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, and the Greater Greensboro Open (GGO). It also hosted the tournament from 1938 to 1976 (alternating some years with Starmount Forest Country Club). Along with Detroit Golf Club, Sedgefield is currently one of only two Ross-designed courses hosting a regular event on the PGA Tour.
