Shade Mountain Golf Course is an 18-hole public course located in Middleburg, Pennsylvania, featuring 6,698 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course has a rating of 71.1 and a slope rating of 126. Designed by Edmund B. Ault, ASGCA, the course opened in 1971. The 18 holes feature bent grass on the greens and winter rye on the fairways. Spread across 200 acres nestled amid picturesque woodlands and lush rolling terrain in the shade of a mountain, the course presents a challenging and rewarding layout.

The front nine is fairly wide open and forgiving, while the back nine is tighter and plays through the woods. The front nine begins with right and left doglegs on holes one and two, followed by a mid-length par-3 with a forced carry over a creek, a par-4 with a sharp left turn, and a par-5 exceeding 500 yards. The back nine maintains a similar style with forced carries and tree-lined fairways, while hole 18 features a gentle dogleg-right with an approach across water and sand traps guarding the green. The facility includes an onsite driving range with practice tees.
