The Melbourne Course is an 18-hole par 72 golf course opened in June 1992, designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, both former Ryder Cup golfers. Measuring 6,616 yards from the back tees, the course represents an enjoyable but thoroughly challenging test of golf. Located approximately 20 miles north of London within 500 acres of seclusion, the Melbourne Course is situated on Capability Brown inspired parkland with sweeping lawns, clumps of well-placed trees and a meandering river. The course crosses the River Lea on four occasions as you follow the natural contours of the Estate, before a memorable finish in front of the Hall after a short ferry ride to the 18th green. The River Lea provides a beautiful but daunting hazard, with significant water crossings starting from the opening holes. The 18th hole is an excellent risk-reward par-5 where players must cross the river four times, with the final journey involving a short excursion on an unmanned ferry across the Broadwater to the final green. The course layout emphasizes strategic positioning and accuracy, with fairway bunkers rewarding accuracy and punishing wayward shots. Brocket Hall is home to The Faldo Golf Institute, a state-of-the-art golf instruction centre including an indoor teaching school, long game zone, short game zone, chipping and bunker zone, putting zone and a par three, six-hole approach zone.

The first holes at Mellor Golf Club were laid in 1894, and the club itself was founded in 1908, becoming Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Club in 1920. The club is steeped in history and is well known as one of Cheshire's 'Hidden Gems of Golf'. Magnificent views across the Cheshire plain and Derbyshire hills serve as a backdrop for a course that tests the skills of all golfers at all levels. The opening holes, although not long, provide an examination of shotmaking ability set among mixed woodland, while holes seven to twelve assume the true moorland character with challenging conditions. On the elevated tee of the 12th hole, golfers enjoy views of up to 50 miles to Merseyside and the Welsh Hills before launching their tee shot at a green 350 yards away and a hundred feet lower. The closing holes, in a parkland setting, include two par fives with water to negotiate and a 443-yard par four finish that demands two long accurate shots to find the well-guarded home green.
