Lancaster Country Club is a private club located on over 400 acres in south central Pennsylvania, established in 1900 as one of the oldest clubs in the state. The course was designed by William Flynn, and the club features three distinct nine-hole courses named Meadowcreek, Dogwood, and Highlands. The Old Course, which hosted the U.S. Women's Open, is made up of the Meadowcreek and Dogwood nines. In 2007, golf architects Ron Forse and Jim Nagle restored Lancaster's design back to Flynn's original plans. The course is constructed on rolling terrain with a river flowing through the heart of the property, and water comes into play on the vast majority of holes. The bunkering on the course stands out, and like with all Flynn courses, it is placed in a way that forces golfers to take extra consideration. The front nine has holes 2-7 that play around and over the Conestoga River, leading to memorable and quirky holes. The Flynn golf course is ranked among Golf Magazine's Top 100 Classic Design Courses and hosted the record-breaking 2015 and 2024 U.S. Women's Open Championships. The Pennsylvania Open in 2002 and 2007, local qualifying for the 2008 U.S. Women's Open, and many amateur tournaments have also been held at the club.
