Whitwood Golf Club

Whitwood Golf Club, located near Castleford, was constructed on the former Whitwood Colliery site and opened in June 1987. Managed by Groundwork Wakefield Trust since 2012, the course has been developed into a modern golf facility suitable for players of all abilities. The 18-hole course is built on undulating ground with new tees constructed in winter 2018, now measuring 6,099 yards at Par 70. It features strategic fairways and well-positioned greens designed to be both challenging and rewarding. The course presents an enjoyable experience for both low handicap players and beginners. Additionally, Whitwood opened a 9-hole Footgolf course in May 2016, the first of its kind in Wakefield, requiring only trainers rather than specialized equipment. The clubhouse provides a warm atmosphere with a bar, putting green, practice nets, and various amenities for both golfers and non-golfers.
