Southport Golf Academy

Southport Golf Academy is a 9-hole golf course located at Leisure Lakes Golf Complex in Mere Brow, near Preston, Lancashire. Established in 2011 and owned by the Carpenter family, the course was expanded to offer official handicapping capabilities. The layout has been extended from its original configuration to provide a challenging experience for golfers of all standards.

The facility operates as a welcoming, inclusive golf academy with an emphasis on accessibility for beginners and experienced players alike. Beyond the course itself, SGA features an 18-bay covered driving range, short game practice areas, and putting greens. The academy is staffed by PGA professionals including senior instructor Richie Benyon, whose tenure spans over 25 years, and Director of Golf James Carpenter. Brad Bridgwood serves as Performance and Junior Coach.

The facility caters to various skill levels through professional tuition, junior programs, and coaching qualifications. Additional amenities include performance studios with GC Quad and Trackman simulators, SAM Puttlab technology, custom club fitting services, a pro shop, and café facilities. The course is open seven days a week and welcomes public play alongside membership options.
