Praia D'El Rey is an 18-hole, par 73 course measuring 6,405 metres from the championship tees, situated on Portugal's Silver Coast approximately one hour north of Lisbon. Designed by American architect Cabell B. Robinson, the course was inaugurated in June 1997. Robinson routed the layout across two contrasting environments — inland pine forest and Atlantic coastal dunes — giving it a character that shifts markedly across the round.
The front nine is largely inland, with the stretch from the 6th to 9th holes offering the serene, enclosed feel of mature parkland, while the back nine transitions dramatically to wind-blown dunes and wide coastal fairways. Holes 12 through 15 run along the coastline and present links-style challenges with the Atlantic Ocean as a constant backdrop. Particularly notable are the views over the Berlengas Islands at the 2nd hole and the sustained ocean panorama along the 12th, while the wind-exposed 14th adds a further layer of difficulty. The 17th, at 570 metres, is one of the longest par 5s in Europe. Throughout, the design features deep bunkers, sloping greens, and natural sandy areas that contrast with the maintained fairways.
The course has been consistently ranked among Portugal's leading layouts and was named Portugal's top golf venue by Golf World magazine in its Continental Europe Top 100 Resorts list in 2019.
