Otone Country Club is a 36-hole championship facility located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, featuring two distinct 18-hole courses designed by renowned architect Seiichi Inoue. The property consists of the East Course and the West Course, which are separated by dense pine forests. Despite the separation, the terrain across the entire facility is remarkably flat, with a total elevation change of only three meters. The courses are characterized by strategic layouts that utilize the surrounding pine woods, along with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, to challenge golfers. The East Course plays to a par 72 and measures 7,118 yards from the championship tees, carrying a course rating of 74.1 and a slope rating of 134. The West Course also plays to par 72 and measures 7,125 yards from the championship tees, with a course rating of 73.8 and a slope rating of 130. Both courses feature high-quality Bentgrass greens, which are noted for their superior putting conditions. The difficulty is underscored by the high course ratings, indicating a challenging test for skilled players. Otone Country Club has a significant history of hosting major professional and amateur tournaments. It hosted the 4th Japan Women’s Open Golf Championship in 1971, won by Hisako Higuchi, and the 37th Japan Open Golf Championship in 1972, won by Han Chang-sang. The East Course was the venue for the inaugural Championship by LEXUS in 2008, as well as subsequent editions in 2009 and 2010. The West Course has hosted the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the Diamond Cup Golf, including events in 2014 and 2015. The facility also hosted the 105th All Japan Amateur Golf Championship in 2021 and the 57th Japan Women’s Open in 2024.
