Located in Noda, Chiba, the Kawama Course of Chiba Country Club is a 27-hole facility designed by Seizo Tomizawa and opened in November 1957. The expansive 726,000-square-meter property is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the East, South, and West courses. Each nine-hole loop is a full par 36, bringing the total course par to 108. The layout utilizes Pen A-2 grass for the greens and offers multiple tee box options, including championship, back, regular, front, and ladies tees, to accommodate varying skill levels. The course is known for its strategic depth, offering different challenges depending on the tee selection. The East Course features a mix of par 4s and 5s, highlighted by the long 579-yard third hole from the championship tees. The South Course presents a demanding opening stretch with a 552-yard first hole and a 431-yard second, while the West Course includes a short 184-yard third hole and a 572-yard fourth. The design allows for play in any direction, with specific yardage and handicap charts provided for the East (West to East), South (North to South), and West (South to North) configurations. Strategic play is essential on this layout, as the yardage varies significantly between the front tees and the championship tees. For instance, the West Course's first hole stretches from 341 yards on the ladies' tees to 412 yards on the championship tees. The facility is equipped with remote-control carts to facilitate play, and the course has a reputation for accommodating different playing styles. The design by Tomizawa, with later modifications by Taisuke Kawata, creates a versatile environment that has hosted significant professional events. The Kawama Course has a notable history in professional golf, having hosted the 2024 Japan Senior Open Golf Championship. This tournament history underscores the course's capability to handle high-level competition. The facility remains a prominent part of the Chiba Country Club portfolio, alongside the Noda and Umesato courses, serving as a key venue for both member play and major tournaments in the Chiba region.
