The Deer Run Championship course features 7,206 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Edmund B. Ault, ASGCA, the course opened in 1969. The course rating is 73.7 with a slope rating of 133 on Bermuda grass. Cut among Virginia hardwoods, the players rarely see another group of golfers. The courses play off rolling Bermuda grass fairways onto manicured bent grass greens.

Curious white tail deer and the abundance of wildlife have caused it to be listed on the National Audubon Society Registry. The Deer Run course received Golf Digest Best Places to Play 4 Stars. The 8000 acre Newport News Park, which is the largest Municipal Park on the East Coast, hugs the two tree-lined Championship courses. Located in Newport News, Virginia, the facility features 18 holes designed to challenge experienced golfers while being accessible to players of all skill levels.
