Williamsburg Golf Club, established in 1958 on historic Civil War land in Williamsburg, Virginia, is an 18-hole championship course situated on 153 acres of rolling fairways, lakes, and marshes. Designed by William F. Gordon, the course was completed in two phases—the first nine holes in October 1959 and the back nine in 1961. The layout features natural water hazards and abundant wildlife habitat.
In 2009, architect John LaFoy undertook a comprehensive modernization that preserved the original character while updating all course elements, including new tees, fairways, greens, and bunkers. The renovation also included a state-of-the-art practice facility. The course has hosted significant tournaments, including the qualifying tournament for the 2004 USGA Women's Open and multiple premier Four Ball competitions in Virginia.
The club underwent extensive clubhouse renovations completed in 2010, enhancing its colonial architecture with modern amenities. The course presents a challenging layout suitable for championship-level play while maintaining playability across skill levels. Natural terrain and strategic bunkering define the course's character, with views from elevated tees overlooking fairways and greens throughout the property.
