The Green Course, designed by Rees Jones and opened in 1991, perfectly blends the challenge of championship golf with a spectacular mix of natural terrain that accommodates varied playing skills. The course plays 7,120 yards, par 72, from the championship tees. The Green Course offers a captivating escape into 105 acres of serene Virginia woodlands, with each hole feeling like its own secluded adventure in championship golf, free from encroaching real estate. Water comes into play on six holes, two played over water and four with lateral hazards.

The real quality of this course is in its framing—it's very rugged land, a pure virgin timberland of huge trees, primarily beech, oak, and pine. The course defines the shot but gives the player several options. It's a shotmaker's course. The Green Course is longer than Gold but also more forgiving—creating an entertaining challenge for golfers of every skill level. An 18-hole course featuring more than 100 bunkers that has challenged players for more than thirty years, hosted 3 NCAA Tournaments, but with 6 sets of tees, still remains welcoming to local high-handicappers and resort guests.
