The Gold Course is an 18-hole, par-71 layout measuring 6,817 yards. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the course debuted in 1963 and was hailed by the legendary architect as "My Finest Design." Located in Williamsburg's rolling hills and pines, it features modern turf, reimagined tees, and state-of-the-art bunkers.

The course requires patience and a methodical approach to score well, with accuracy being the key to the first 13 holes where placement is rewarding much more than length. The 7th hole features one of golf's earliest "island" greens, with a downhill tee shot over the pond that is both visually breathtaking and immensely challenging. The 16th hole is the signature par-3, a 169-yard hole that stands as the most picturesque of a fantastic group of par 3s.

The course has been ranked among America's Top 100 Courses You Can Play by GOLF Magazine, Golf Digest, and Golfweek Magazine. The course hosted the 1999 USGA Men's State Team Championship. It has a legacy of five USGA championships.
