Militia Hill opened in 2002 and was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. The course is located at 401 Stenton Ave, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania 19462, Montgomery County. The course measures 7,227 yards with a rating of 75.0 and slope of 136. The course was named in honor of the adjacent Militia Hill section of Fort Washington State Park, which had been occupied during the American Revolution by the Pennsylvania Militia just before moving on to their winter encampment at Valley Forge.
The design takes advantage of the terrain with elevation changes that will challenge club selection into rolling greens. The course is set on hilly property on two sides of a set of railroad tracks, with creeks nestled at the bottom of the property in several areas, and bunkers that are large and cover a lot of ground. The course has been ranked #28 Best Course in Pennsylvania by Golf Digest (2025) and #33 Best Course in Pennsylvania by Top100golfcourse.com (2024).
In 2015, the National PGA Professional Championship was held at both the Wissahickon and Militia Hill courses. The PGA Professional National Championship, comprised of 312 of the top club golf professionals, was held on the Wissahickon and Militia Hill golf courses.
