Located in Katsuura, Chiba, the Katsuura Tokyu Golf Course is a 18-hole, par-72 resort course designed by Chōhei Miyazawa and opened in July 1977. Situated on a hilltop in the Minami-Bōsō region, the layout is classified as a hilly course that offers expansive views of the Pacific Ocean and Katsuura Bay. The facility operates as a members-only course with a self-play style, featuring a clubhouse distinguished by palm trees and a tropical atmosphere. The front nine begins with a demanding downhill par-4 first hole, setting a challenging tone with a cross bunker on the right. The outward leg includes a long par-4 third hole where out-of-bounds lines and guard bunkers test accuracy, and a strategic par-4 sixth hole that offers panoramic views of the bay. The back nine introduces more water hazards, most notably the seventh hole where the second shot must carry a pond, and the thirteenth hole, which features a pond guarding the approach. The course also challenges players with the downhill par-5 fourth hole and the elevated tee of the seventeenth hole, which requires an uphill second shot to a two-tiered green. The course features two distinct sets of tees for each hole, labeled Green A and Green B, allowing for variable yardage and difficulty. The greens are maintained with Bentgrass, specifically the A Green, cut at 3.3mm with a target speed of 9.5 on the stimpmeter. The layout includes significant elevation changes, with several holes playing downhill or uphill, and fairways that are generally wide but bordered by hazards such as bunkers, out-of-bounds areas, and water. Key characteristics include the mental pressure of the eighth hole, a par-3 where a natural tree protrudes from the right side of the tee box, and the sixteenth hole, a par-3 that requires a precise carry over water. The course is designed to satisfy a player's challenge spirit through its varied terrain and strategic demands. The facility is located approximately ten minutes by car from Katsuura Station and is accessible via the Chiba Expressway.
