Designed by William W. Amick, ASGCA, the Homestead golf course first opened for play in 1965 as a 9 hole course built on 60 acres. In 1973, the land across the street was purchased to provide space for the nine additional holes and an irrigation system to keep the grass green. Located in Tipp City in southern Miami County, Homestead Golf Course is situated on farmland that was originally homesteaded by the Knife Family in 1814, who have owned and operated the course since it opened.
The 18-hole Homestead course features 6,308 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 70.3 and it has a slope rating of 123 on Blue grass. At just over 6,300 yards, the course is not terribly long but there are a few challenges to contend with. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed throughout. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 501 yards. Homestead Golf Course is fair and not overly difficult. Beginners will definitely be able to approach it with confidence and the affordability is appealing to any skill level.
