Golfe de Amarante

Golfe de Amarante is an 18-hole golf course located in Fregim, Amarante, Portugal. The course features a par layout with notable elevation changes and scenic views of Serra do Marão and Aboboreira mountains, particularly from hole 11. The design incorporates challenging elements including strategically placed bunkers, out-of-bounds areas, water hazards, and undulating greens that characterize the course's difficulty.

Notable characteristics include several short par-3s and demanding par-4s, with hole 16 serving as the stroke index 1 (most difficult). The course presents varied challenges: blind shots, elevated greens, narrow fairways framed by trees, and multiple two-tiered greens requiring precision putting. Hole 7, the shortest on the course, is notably known for recording the most hole-in-ones. The closing hole 18 is a relatively accessible par-5 despite its uphill finish.

The terrain showcases Mediterranean vegetation with olive trees and pines throughout. Water hazards appear on several holes, particularly holes 12 and 17. The course design emphasizes strategic positioning from the tee and careful approach shot selection to avoid penalties from the surrounding landscape and hazards.
