Bunga Raya Course ☆ Follow

The Bunga Raya Course at Saujana Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole championship layout located in Shah Alam, Selangor. Designed by the Malaysian-based Parslow & Winter Golf Design, the course spans 7,034 yards and features Bermuda 419 fairways and Mini Verde greens. The layout is characterized by rolling terrain, wide expanses of water, and undulating greenery that creates a sense of space and freedom. Nicknamed "The Crocodile," the course is known for its serene lakes and deceptive difficulty, often leading players to underestimate the challenge it presents. The course presents a variety of challenges, including elevated tees, deep bunkers, and water hazards that come into play on numerous holes. Hole 1 is a par 5 protected by a large body of water on the front and sides of the green, while Hole 2 is a par 4 where the left side is out of bounds and a large pond threatens short hitters. The par 3 sixth hole features a tiny, severely sloping green protected by a deep front bunker, and the island par 3 seventeenth demands precision to carry water to a small target. The closing eighteenth hole is a par 4 with water running along the entire right flank, requiring a strategic tee shot to avoid a "watery grave."

Significant features include the two-tiered, deep, and narrow green on the par 5 tenth hole, which is the longest on the course, and the three-tiered green on the uphill par 4 sixteenth hole. The thirteenth hole features a deep pond that separates the tee box from the fairway, while the fourteenth hole offers a narrow corridor of trees with a potential eagle opportunity for long hitters. The course underwent major re-routing and reconstruction to offer this new layout, maintaining its reputation as a demanding test of golf that rewards accurate shot-making and strategic play.
