The Barfoot & Thompson Waihi Triple Pairs Challenge is a mixed pairs tournament held at Waihi Golf Club on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2026. The event features three competition formats: Canadian Foursomes on Saturday morning, Scottish Foursomes on Saturday afternoon, and Four Ball Best Ball on Sunday morning. There are two divisions: Men's Pairs and Mixed Pairs, with an overall net prize for the winning pair across all divisions. The entry fee is $150 NZD per pair, which includes Saturday lunch. The maximum handicaps are 39.2 for men and 36.7 for ladies. Optional two's are available for $10 per pair. The event is limited to the first 54 fully paid entries.

The course is set amongst lush green surroundings with views overlooking Waihi Township and surrounding farmland. The layout presents a challenge suitable for golfers of all skill levels, with the course expertly maintained and managed. The greens are noted for their quality and purity. The club hosts a variety of regular weekly events and tournaments, ranging from single to multi-day competitions. Facilities include a bar, catering service, and a small pro shop offering golfing attire, snacks, and accessories. The course accommodates both walking players and those using electric carts or trundlers, and utilizes a Dotgolf scoring system for accurate handicap registration. The club serves as both a golfing venue and function facility for the local community.
