Portarlington Golf Club, founded in 1908, is located in Garryhinch, approximately 2.5 miles from Portarlington in County Offaly, Ireland. This 18-hole parkland course was designed by Eddie Hackett and was converted from 9 holes in the early 1990s. The expansion integrated the River Barrow and adjoining woodland areas into the course design, creating a picturesque setting featuring magnificent mature trees and abundant wildlife including mallard ducks, swans, and red squirrels. The course presents a serious challenge to golfers of all levels, with hazards strategically positioned throughout. The layout emphasizes the natural landscape, with water hazards and wooded areas playing significant roles in the course architecture. Portarlington Golf Club is recognized as one of Ireland's top courses, ranking #89 in the nation's Top 100 Golf Courses. The club offers comprehensive facilities including practice amenities, a full bar and restaurant, and hosts numerous member competitions and weekly open competitions alongside regular junior coaching programs.
