Featured Events - March 2026
This month's featured events are a very personal list as they have all been events that I've experienced, so there is a bit of a summer in Europe focus here. As always, we try to focus on events a few months away so you have time to investigate and make plans!
This Month's Featured Events
Arctic Open
Course Event
18 Jun 2026
Jaðarsvöllur
Iceland
If you've ever dreamed of playing golf at midnight, then this event is for you. I played myself back in 2014 and they had me teeing off at 5 minutes past midnight. It was a long couple of nights, but definitely worth it for the experience. And Iceland is a fantastic place to visit anyway!
Boy Bladon & Molly Cayless Open Individual
Course Event
14 Jun 2026
Teignmouth Golf Course
United Kingdom
The Boy Bladon kicks off the fantastic MacKenzie Week at Teignmouth. Designed by the famous Alister MacKenzie of Augusta National fame, this is a great week of golf for father/son or husband/wife etc. I used to play with my father, who was a member there, most years.
SWINLEY FOREST, Ascot - 2 rounds
Tour Event
4 Jun 2026
Global Amateur Golf Tour
Swinley Forest is an absolute must-play, and The Global Amateur Golf Tour is one of the best opportunities to experience this unique course. I must have played it at least 20 times, and my best ever score was 36 points, so it is tough, and doesn't suit my game at all, but I keep wanting to come back for more punishment. And don't miss out on the Bovril & Tio Pepe special at the halfway house. The carvery lunch is great, but careful not to over-indulge or your afternoon round will suffer!
THE BERKSHIRE, Ascot - RED & BLUE COURSES - 2 rounds
Tour Event
22 Jul 2026
Global Amateur Golf Tour
Sticking with The Global Amateur Golf Tour and courses in the Surrey/Berkshire sand belt, the combination of The Berkshire Blue & Red courses is one of the best days out going. Very scoreable (I once came 3rd with 44 points), and still 'affordable' - at least relative to its neighbours like Sunningdale. The carvery lunch is comparable to Swinley Forest, and the same caveat applies!
Finca Cortesin Tournament
Course Event
7 Aug 2026
Finca Cortesin Golf Club
Spain
Great opportunity to play one of the best courses on the Costa del Sol in Spain. They have a Father/Son event the following week as well. The weather can be a bit brutally hot, but morning golf in a buggy with plenty of water is a great way to start the day before you head to the pool and a lazy Spanish summer afternoon.
Prospect Hospice Charity Golf Day
Tour Event
19 Jun 2026
Ian Rumbold Prospect Hospice
Hosted by comedian Aaron James. Price includes tea, coffee and bacon rolls, 18 holes of golf and a BBQ. Auction, raffle, HIO Prizes and prize table.
Update from the Engine Room
We've been working hard through February to enrich our data. Most golf courses now have descriptions with a bit of history, and the events have a little bit of a description too. This is good for our 'google'-ness, but also a benefit to users to see more info about a course or event without having to click out of the site.
We've been advancing our technology to extract events, and learning country-by-country how to best go about this. The UK is by far the outstanding leader in terms of open competitions, and many courses use the same handful of platforms (BRS Golf, HowdidIdo, IntelligentGolf etc), which makes our job easier, and the data more accurate.
We still have a way to go matching events to courses when we're looking at Tours and Federations because the data provided is often very limited, but we're working on it, and as more Tours and Federations take ownership of their data, then the accuracy will improve.
For those of you with course admin rights, you can now upload up to 6 pictures to enhance your page. You might also want to double-check the description we've added to your page to make sure we've got it right!
