Frosty Valley Country Club

PA

The 18-hole Frosty Valley course features 6,716 yards of golf for a par of 72. The course was designed in 1961 by William and David Gordon, one of the most famous father-son golf course architectural teams. Located in Danville, Pennsylvania, the routing includes doglegs and a 180-foot course elevation change that increases the effective playing length by 150+ yards. The Gordon's golf courses were designed in the style championed by Robert Trent Jones, calling for precision tee shots and approaches, with bunkers usually flanking the line of play. The design includes more doglegs than expected (7) and greens contoured similar to a potato chip. Frosty Valley has 6 sets of tees, push-up style greens that cause unfamiliar players to typically come up short on approaches, yielding challenging recovery shots. Frosty Valley has played host to some of central Pennsylvania's most time-honored golf tournaments. The facility is home to an 18-hole golf course, a rustic barn for weddings and events, and the Iron Fork restaurant.

Frosty Valley Golf Links

PA

Frosty Valley Golf Links is located in Upper St. Clair Township in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and offers nine challenging holes along with a grass driving range and clubhouse. The course was designed in 1961 by William and David Gordon, notable golf architects who worked extensively in the Mid-Atlantic region. The design features more doglegs than expected (7) and greens contoured similar to a potato chip. The course has a par of 36, plays to 3,121 yards from the back tees and 2,371 yards from the forward tees. Gordon's design precludes players from blasting driver on every par 4, instead challenging the golfer to execute a shot to a specific distance with failure to execute correctly requiring an excellent subsequent shot to have a chance at par. Due to the doglegs and 180 foot course elevation change, the routing of holes increases the effective playing length by 150+ yards. Frosty Valley features push-up style greens that yield challenging recovery shots and test short game skills. Founded by the Ruffing Family in 1988, Frosty Valley has become a community gem in Upper St. Clair, and the course was previously Hidden Valley Country Club. While the course is open to the public and hosts various leagues and events, there is no documented significant tournament history at the facility.
