Fuchu Country Club is a championship 18-hole course located in Nakazawa, Tama, Tokyo, situated within the central area of the Tama New Town. The course was originally designed by Seizo Toyosawa and opened in November 1959. Spanning 622,208 square meters, the layout features Korean grass fairways and tees, with Shark bentgrass greens. The course offers five sets of tees, ranging from the Green tees at 4,948 yards to the Black tees at 6,828 yards, with a course rating of 72.8 from the back markers. The design is characterized by strategic elements that challenge golfers across the field. The course includes two par-3s, the 7th and 17th, and two par-5s, the 9th and 15th. The 15th hole serves as the longest stretch on the course, measuring 550 yards from the Black tees, while the 2nd hole provides a shorter 147-yard challenge. The 9th and 18th holes are noted as recommended for driving distance, whereas the 2nd and 11th holes are suggested for proximity play. The course has undergone significant renovations over the decades, including a major overhaul of the greens and surrounding areas in 2014, and further modifications to the front nine in 2024. Fuchu Country Club has a notable history in professional tournament play. It hosted the Kanto Professional Golf Championship in 1969, won by Haruo Yasuda, and the first JAL Open in 1971, which was claimed by D. Graham. The club also held the first Tokyo Charity Classic in 1973, won by Fumio Tanaka. The course record of 67 was set by Koichiro Nishikawa in August 2022. The facility continues to maintain its status as a traditional members' club while accommodating various handicap levels through its multiple tee configurations.
