Located at an elevation of 300 meters in the former Yasu town area of Chikuzen, located in Asakura District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Yasu Kogen Country Club is a 27-hole facility designed by renowned architect Koji Yasuda. The course opened on September 15, 1974, following extensive earthworks that transformed the hilly terrain into a notably flat and spacious layout. The property is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the East Course, the West Course, and the South Course. The East Course presents a series of downhill and uphill challenges, beginning with a Par 4 first hole that features five cross bunkers and a penalty line on the right. The fourth hole is a Par 3 uphill shot to a two-tiered green, while the ninth hole requires a tee shot over water to a fast, two-tiered putting surface. The West Course offers a mix of long holes and technical middles, highlighted by a Par 5 first hole that plays downhill with out-of-bounds flanking the fairway. The third hole on this loop is a long Par 4 guarded by a lateral water hazard on the left, and the seventh hole is a Par 4 where driving distance is recommended due to a central fairway bunker. The South Course is characterized by its wide fairways and strategic hazards, including water and pine forests. The second hole is a Par 5 that demands a carry over water off the tee, with out-of-bounds areas surrounding the fairway and a pine forest to the right. The fifth hole is a Par 4 where a water hazard sits on the left side of the fairway, particularly challenging from the back tees. The ninth hole is a long Par 5 that plays uphill for the second shot, with out-of-bounds guarding the left side of the fairway. Each nine-hole loop has a par of 36, with yardages varying by tee color. The East Course totals 3,337 yards from the blue tees, the West Course measures 3,488 yards from the same tees, and the South Course measures 3,356 yards. The course is known for its generous fairway widths and relatively flat terrain, a deliberate design choice by the founders to provide an open and accessible playing experience. The facility has maintained its layout since its opening in the mid-1970s, preserving the original vision of a spacious, easy-to-navigate course in a highland setting.
