Russell, a two-time European Tour winner, the course features no bunkers and minimal rough, eliminating lost balls. The course is specifically designed as an accessible golfing experience for players of all abilities and ages, particularly appealing to families and beginners. It functions as an introductory links golf experience, allowing golfers to develop short game skills through bump-and-runs and pitch shots from grassy hollows without facing lengthy par 4s or forced carries. The layout offers flexible play, with hole distances ranging from short pitches to approximately 210 yards. While a prescribed routing exists daily, four different course configurations can be presented-named after golf legends James Braid, Harry Vardon, J.H. Taylor, and Willie Campbell. When privately booked, players can choose any tee to any green combination, providing up to 36 potential hole options. The course exemplifies Russell's design philosophy of creating an intimidation-free environment where people of any golf experience level, including children experiencing links golf for the first time, can enjoy the game without requiring a full set of clubs or adhering to dress codes.

The Welcombe Golf Club

Warwickshire

The Welcombe Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-70 parkland course measuring 6,288 yards from the back tees (course rating 73.1, slope 126), set within 157 acres of rolling Warwickshire countryside on Warwick Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, adjacent to the Grade II listed neo-Jacobean Welcombe Hotel, built in 1866. The layout is notably unusual in its par distribution, comprising three par fives and five par threes across the 18 holes - an uncommon configuration that gives the course a distinctive character despite its moderate length. The terrain is significantly undulating, providing elevated tee shots with panoramic views across the Welcombe Hills and plentiful sloping lies throughout the round. Lakes feature on several holes, adding strategic and visual interest. The course is described as deceptively long relative to its yardage, owing to the hillier terrain and the number of uphill holes. The signature hole is the par-5 16th, measuring over 500 yards uphill with a narrow tee shot, water left, and extensive bunkering that challenges even the longest hitters. The par-4 12th plays steeply downhill, offering a genuine birdie opportunity, while the par-4 17th doglegs right from a tee adjacent to the hotel building. The course hosted the European Seniors Tour Ryder Event in 1998. The hotel, which operates the course under the Hallmark Hotels brand, provides accommodation, spa facilities, and clubhouse dining.
