Since opening for play in 2002, RiverTowne earned an Honorable Mention among Golf Digest's Best New Courses. The finishing holes are notably challenging, including the 15th hole, a 490-yard par 4 with a large bunker in the dogleg, the 16th, a 533-yard par 5 with traps and marshes, and the 18th, a 480-yard par 4 considered one of the toughest holes in the Lowcountry.
