River Bend Golf and Country Club is nestled in the rolling countryside of Great Falls, Virginia and is one of the premier private membership clubs in the Washington, D.C. area. Founded in 1961, the course is known for its challenging, beautifully maintained golf course. The 18-hole course features 6,631 yards of golf for a par of 71, with a course rating of 71.6 and a slope rating of 135. The course was originally designed by Edmund B. Ault and Al Jamison, with Keith Foster developing a master plan for course renovation in 2003 that was completed when the renovated course reopened on July 1, 2011. The course features dramatic holes woven through mature hardwood trees and hills of Northern Virginia to produce spectacular vistas, with classic stonework walls and bridges framing ponds, streams, and hills throughout the course. River Bend Municipal Golf Course opened in 1971 to serve the town of Story City and neighboring communities. The 9-hole course measures 2,934 yards with a par of 36 for men and 2,725 yards with a par of 37 for the ladies. The course was designed by Charles Calhoun. The course is located at 720 Forest Ave, Story City, Iowa 50248. The course offers a player-friendly layout and challenges better players with trees and water in play on almost every hole. River Bend is a Par 36 with two par 3's and two par 5's, with a couple dog legs, bunkers and a few holes where water comes into play. The course has a slope of 117. The original site was selected because of its rolling land and a creek running through the 75 acres. The clubhouse and bar were built in 2010 and offer a warm comfortable environment to relax with friends. The course development followed a thirteen-year process beginning in 1958 when Robert Cole initiated a public meeting, leading to the formation of the Story City Golf and Country Club in 1961, with Doc Semler, Sr. later emerging as a strong proponent for the project from the Story City Development Commission.

Founded in 1967 by businessman Punch Barlow, the River Club is an ultra-exclusive golf club located in the well-to-do Sandton district of Johannesburg. The par 71 18-hole course was originally designed by Robert "Bob" Grimsdell, with later improvements by Rob O'Friel in 1998. The course features Bent Grass greens and Kikuyu Grass fairways. The layout features a classical parkland fusion of tree-lined fairways, picturesque but threatening water hazards, and top quality greens and bunkering, with gently undulating terrain and many attractive dog-legging holes and inspired par-3s. At the par-4 13th, par-3 14th and par-5 15th, water hazards come closest as the Braamfontein Spruit, a tributary of the Jukskei River, flows through the course. The course packs quite a punch at the end with the long par-3 17th requiring a serious carry over water, and a challenging par-4 18th with a potentially long approach into a well-bunkered and water-protected green. Golf commentator Ewan Murray has nominated the River Club as "one of the top ten courses in the world today," highlighting the last five finishing holes as "maybe the best five finishing holes in golf." The River Club does not operate a pay-and-play facility, so access is limited to members or guests of members, with caddies being compulsory.
